Generally, 10% of police calls will involve someone with a mental illness. The safety of law enforcement officers, persons with mental illness or developmental disabilities, and citizens can be compromised when officers are not adequately prepared to respond to such calls.
Crisis Intervention Recertification Training - February 2015
The half day recertification training was held February 6th, 2015. The training was conducted under the instructional supervision of local CIT-trained police officers, mental health, addiction recovery, and developmental disability professionals. The training reviewed practical techniques & updated information for de-escalating crisis situations.
