The Domestic Violence Shelter in Preble County has continuously operated since the mid-1980's with the YWCA Dayton assuming programmatic operations in fall of 2004 in cooperation with the HIT Foundation. The YWCA provides 24-hour/7 day access to confidential aid for victims of domestic violence, dating violence and child victimization. It is the only protective emergency shelter in the Eaton/Preble County area with "wrap around" services. YWCA Dayton Preble County shelter services offer a wide variety of programming to help women and children improve personal safety, encourage self-sufficiency and enable women to survive, cope and re-enter the community safely. Services include: Intensive Assessment Crisis Intervention Individual Advocacy Support and Educational groups Goal Planning Case Management Food, clothing and personal care items Follow-up and Referrals Housing Support Children's programs Transportation Emergency Shelter The Domestic Violence Shelter is protective shelter and services, provided in a confidential location, for women and their children seeking refuge from violent living situations. Having access to safety, educational and support groups, legal advocacy, therapeutic intervention and safety planning assists families in reclaiming their lives and healing from the trauma of domestic violence. |
