What is Detox?

It is the process of removing toxic substances. It is medical treatment of an alcohol or drug addict involving abstention from drink or drugs until the bloodstream is free of toxins.  It is the gradual withdrawal of an abused substance in a controlled environment.  It is the first step in beginning the journey to recovery.

How can Detox facilities help?

Detox centers are designed to provide patients with all the resources they need to get well and stay well.  The two main goals are:

1.  Detox from the substance

2.  Learn how to begin a new life that is not dependent on drugs and alcohol

Detox programs can also be customized to suit the specific situation of the patient.  The program may also be designed to include other medical or psychological conditions the patient may be experiencing which may have led them to the abuse in the first place.

How do I choose a Detox facility?

Consider the following when choosing the right facility for you or your loved one:

Program Quality

Training & Education of facility staff

Rate of Success
